| Burning man directions
from Calgary |
A bunch of
people have asked me the easiest way to get to BRC from Calgary.
Unless you have a 4x4 do not go the back way from
Winnemucca. Almost everyone I've talked to has had a flat tire on this road
and many have had two (hint, you only have one spare and you are 2 hours from
the nearest town).
The easiest way to go is through Northern California. It is very
direct and most of the roads are very good. The entire thing is paved.
- Calgary - Okotoks
- Okotoks- Black Diamond
- Black Diamon - Crowsnest Pass (22x, 3)
- Crowsnest Pass - Cranbrook ( Hwy 3 )
- Cross into US at eastport ( Not sure of hours)
- Eastport - Bonner's Ferry. Stop for yummy pies
- Bonner's Ferry - Sandpoint (2)
- Sandpoint - Spokane (not sure fastest way.)
Warning. Pendleton, a few hours away, is the last town
of any sort of size. You may want to stock up on last minute supplies in
Spokane.
- Spokane - Walla Walla (195)
- Walla Walla - Pendleton (11)
- Pendleton is your last chance for supplies. Even fast food
will be hard to find.
- Don't say I didn't warn you.
- Pendleton - Burns ( 395 )
- Burns - Riley ( 20 West )
- Riley - Lakeview (395 )
- Lakeview - Cedarville (395 - 22 ) ( I seem to remember some
facilities at the 22 intersection. There are one or two more general store
type of places
- Cedarville - Gerlach
- Gerlach - Black Rock City
